Finding a solidly built Craftmans style column is tricky. My builder had put one in that was1/4 inch PVC. Looked ok, but attached a flag pole to it and the winds in my area just pulled a seam completely open.
I sent a message to TimberBuild because they have square columns, not expecting they could do it. Turns out they had made them in the past. Not only that they were able to build to exact dimensions I gave them, so I did not have to do any onsite modifications.
There were some tiny dents. Not sure if done in construction, during transport, or when I uncrated them. And it is western red cedar, if you look at too hard you can dent it.
It was crated extremely well. But given the size they pieced together 3 old pallets. Wish I had realized sooner they did that with square drive screws. Wondered why I couldn't crowbar them apart.
But they are easy to work with, will send you drawings to approve, make modifications after your drawing review, and I think for a custom one off job the turnaround time was great.

I found a photo of a bracket that I wanted to replicate and I provided the adjusted dimensions and details I wanted changed from the original. They also helped me figure out the dimensions seen in the photo. They were also able to make it out of Redwood, which I wanted. I am very happy with the outcome. They did great work.
